Practical tips on how to prepare for the season!

Get ready for the season

A few days spent on the slopes is not only great fun but also a significant workout for the body. Proper physical preparation before your trip will allow you to enjoy the slopes even more, recover faster, and reduce the risk of injury.

It is worth including development exercises in your activities a few weeks before your departure:

  • strength of the legs and buttocks,
  • stabilization and balance,
  • mobility of hip and knee joints,
  • overall body performance.

We especially recommend:

  • squats and one-legged squats,
  • dynamic lunges,
  • lateral jumps,
  • balance exercises,
  • general development training,
  • cardio training.

Even 2-3 short training sessions a week can significantly improve your skiing comfort during a winter trip and make every day on the slopes even more enjoyable.

Insurance - mandatory supplement

Every FTF trip participant must be covered by our mandatory insurance, which covers medical expenses, accidents, and on-slope rescue. This is important because a standard European Health Insurance card (EHIC) doesn't cover all costs, and mountain assistance—especially rescue transport—can be quite expensive.

When registering, you choose one of the available options:

  • NON-SKI – basic insurance, without sports cover on the slopes,

  • SKI BASIC – basic insurance extended to cover amateur skiing and snowboarding,

  • SKI GOLD – extension for amateur skiing and snowboarding with higher protection limits,

  • SKI GOLD (+ isolation, alcohol clause) – the variant with the most extensive protection, additionally including isolation and an alcohol clause.

If you don't ski or snowboard, the NON-SKI option will suffice. For those who spend time on the slopes, we recommend at least the SKI BASIC option, and for more demanding riding, the SKI GOLD option.

Detailed insurance coverage for a given trip can be found in the trip description, in the price section. Check the insurance details.

What to take on a trip?

Before you leave, it's worth taking a moment to check that you'll find everything you need. Below is a list of the most important items.

On the slope

  • skis or snowboard (or reserve equipment in our rental),

  • ski poles,

  • helmet,

  • goggles,

  • ski gloves,

  • ski jacket and pants,

  • thermal underwear,

  • ski socks,

  • a sweatshirt or an additional warm layer,

  • a scarf or a neck warmer to protect against wind and snow,

  • cream with high UV filter,

  • protective lipstick.

Off the slopes

  • a hat,

  • a warm jacket,

  • comfortable shoes with non-slip soles,

  • sunglasses,

  • backpack,

  • towels,

  • everyday clothes.

Documents and health

  • identity document,

  • EHIC card (if applicable),

  • medications taken on a regular basis,

  • basic painkillers and cold remedies.

Transportation and luggage

The following information applies to people travelling with us on the coach or providing us with luggage for transport.

For the comfort of all participants, baggage limits are in place. Importantly, they are among the most liberal on the market. You can enjoy over 40 kg of luggage for a week-long trip, which in practice should easily satisfy even the most demanding skiers and snowboarders.

Luggage limits:

  • main luggage – up to 20 kg,

  • hand luggage – up to 10 kg (must fit under the seat or on the shelf),

  • one set of ski or snowboard equipment per person.

Important: Checked luggage should be soft luggage. Please avoid hard-shell suitcases (commonly known as airline suitcases). Duffle bags, backpacks, or soft-sided fabric suitcases are best.

Following these rules will ensure efficient loading of the coach and the comfort of all travelers. The carrier reserves the right to check the weight of luggage and may refuse to transport excess luggage exceeding the permitted limits.

Please also remember that luggage left unattended during stops is the responsibility of its owner.

Equipment rental

Don't have your own equipment or don't want to bring it with you? Don't worry—you can rent equipment from us right when you book your trip. After signing up, we'll contact you to choose the perfect package (skis + poles or snowboard), and everything will be waiting for you at your destination in the Alps.

Renting is a convenient option, especially for those new to winter sports and those traveling independently. Please note, however, that we do not rent ski and snowboard boots—these must be brought with you or rented locally at a local rental shop in the Alps.

It's best to reserve equipment in advance to ensure availability of the appropriate size. See our rental options.

Safety on the slopes

Having fun on the slopes starts with safety—your own and that of other skiers. A few simple rules will ensure that every day goes by without unpleasant surprises.

What's worth remembering:

  • warm up before your first descent – warmed muscles mean a lower risk of injury,
  • adjust your speed to your skills and slope conditions,
  • keep a safe distance and give way to people driving below,
  • take breaks and drink water – most injuries happen at the end of the day when we are tired,
  • always wear a helmet when riding,
  • protect your eyes and skin – snow strongly reflects the sun's rays.

If an accident occurs: secure the area to warn other skiers and, if necessary, call for help - the emergency number can be found on your ski pass or on signs at the lifts.

Remember: the slopes are best enjoyed by those who ride with common sense. Don't overestimate your abilities, especially at the end of the day, and give yourself time to learn.

Ski passes

People who have registered for skiing or snowboarding will receive ski passes on site.

Important tip: After receiving your pass, take a photo of both sides. If you lose it, this can make obtaining a replacement much easier and save you valuable time, which is definitely better spent on the slopes than in the queue at the ticket office.
